Normal? What is normal? You don’t know, do you? Well I’ll tell you that there’s no such thing! Normal is the title that people give others who act like the “average” person. Everyone is different, we all learn differently. There’s so many learning differences that anyone could have. I don’t learn as well in lectures and I learn more efficiently by using my hands and working in small groups. My grades weren’t always as good as they are now, due to the teaching methods of public schools. In private school, which is where I am now, at Denver Academy, the teachers actually take time out of their day to help you learn something that you need help with. But grades aren’t the only thing I have to work hard for. I own 3 horses and have a passion for horseback riding and barrel racing in rodeos. So my life is pretty hectic, but it’s so much fun! I am the kind of person that anyone can go up to with anything and I will always try to help in any way that I can.
Ok, so what is a generation? A generation is a period of time that holds the common beliefs of that time. It all started with the Traditionalists (1900-1940). Their generation is known as the “loyal” generation. Then it moved on to what my parents are, the Baby Boomers (1946-1964). The Boomers were labeled as the “optimistic” generation. After that, we had Generation X (1965-1908). This generation was known as the “skeptical” generation. Finally, there’s my generation, the Millennials. We’re known as the “realistic” generation. Our characteristics involve us being more patient than the other generations. Millennial’s time period is still going, but it started in1981.
Have your parents ever told you to put your cell phone away at the dinner table, or in the car? Yeah, me too, but that’s just because their generation had the luxury of a computer the size of a table and a cell phone the size of a small brick. So they grew up without google.com or texting. They just never really got used to those things and you wouldn’t be able to get used to their generation’s way of life either.
Everybody has their own “outlet”, or task or hobby that they use to un-wind. Some people can turn that into their job. For me, it’s horseback riding. The adrenaline from barrel racing is inexplicable! I’m turning that hobby and passion into a job by becoming a veterinarian for horses. My other hobby is going on Myspace.com or texting my friends. The technology is always changing, but the adrenaline rush you’ll get from something you love doing will never fade. Nowadays, those brick-sized telephones are obsolete, meaning that they serve no purpose. When you buy an ipod, within the next couple of months, the Apple Store comes out with a new version of the ipod that you just purchased; making your ipod obsolete. Sometime in the future, someone will create new kinds of technology, making the technology that we have today obsolete.
