What is intelligence? Is it knowing how to write an essay or is it knowing how to build and create? Is it “book smarts” or “street smarts”? Well, the idea of Multiple Intelligences suggests that that are at least 8 intelligences. I am strongest in musical intelligence. This is shown by my skill in playing guitar, and the fact that I see sound in colors, visually. This is called color synesthesia, which is where certain tones or instruments evoke certain colors. Speaking of visual, that is my second most prominent intelligence, so I can usually figure out how stuff work by looking at it. There is another way that I also learn, kinesthetically. I learn or remember better through movement or hands–on projects. This ties back to the physical movement of playing guitar. Lastly, I am a debater, which means I learn through what is or can be perceived as arguing.

My Myers-Briggs is E & INTJ. The E is for Extravert and I is for Introvert. That means I get energized by certain people and relaxing on my own. The N is for intuition; but means I am creative and imaginative. The T stands for Thinking; specifically objective thinking. Lastly the J is for Judging; in my case critical thinking. This boils down to a person that is creative, likes to know the facts, and is a critical thinker – me! I also have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and a slight case of dyslexia (a term a dyslexlyer can’t spell).

A generation is a time period in which a person is born and how the events affect and shape them. The Millennial Generation is connected to the turn of the millennium; the time period for the Millennial Generation is 1980 – 1999. The later half of the millennial generation is what I want to talk about, one of the big things that has shaped this generation is technology, growing up with cell phone, iPods, and computers that are getting smaller by the day. Growing up with this stuff made us “tech-savvy,” we intuitively know how to use technology. We are able to talk to someone on the other side of the world via the Internet. I think this has made us more tolerant of different idea and cultures. We also multi–task, we listen to our iPods, check emails, update our social network page, chat with friends all while writing a paper for school. (In fact while I am typing this I am doing that.) One of the other big aspect of the millennial that wasn’t influenced by technology is that the parents of most Millennials are very involved, jetting the kid around place to place. This did two things, the first is that it made most Millennials need a lot of structure, and the other is that it was over stimulating and now they need more stimuli (thus leading to the multi–tasking). One of the last characteristics of Millennials is we are very conscious about the environment, we grew up with the idea of being green.

All of the millennial characteristics describe me. For instance the involved parenting: I was doing all these sports, and taking piano lessons. Finally I just got fed up and said ‘no more!’ Now the only thing I do outside of school is play guitar. I am good with technology and I multi–task a lot. I am also very tolerant of people’s beliefs, - “to each his own.” I think with this attitude we can change the world; we can fix the energy crisis, stop climate change, and make the world a better place.
